You know, it's the new cliff jumping! All the cool toddlers are doing it.
Lord, have mercy.
Elizabeth decided to take a flying leap onto the hardwood floor this afternoon. It's the first time she's ever done that.
What was the reason?
Well, we're been talking about being a big girl, and going down for a nap without a paci for a few months now. Today, since I'm home, I decided to make it a reality. Of course, I gave her the option: No paci + big girl nap = cookie after nap. Paci + nap = no cookie. She opted for the cookie (which was in my hand, opposite the other holding the beloved red paci, for emphasis).
Everything was fine, I tucked her in, she was okay. She then had a momentary lapse of sanity - although I am currently contemplating whether toddlers are rarely sane, and therefore have momentary lapses of insanity....but I digress - and started screaming and crying. There was a loud crash and louder sobs.
That brings us to my Haiku for the day:
I approached her door,
She was in a heap on the floor.
It's quiet no more.
I'm titling it, "How Dare I - A Mother's Afternoon."
I did put two comforters down. I explained that they are not a landing strip, and that she has to have flaggers for that. Since Mommy already threw her flag today, there are no flaggers.
We now return to your previously scheduled programming.
